The Onion Molecular Design Breeding Innovation Team from the College of Horticulture at Qingdao Agricultural University recently published a paper in Horticulture Research, releasing the comparative and functional genomics database AlliumDB for the Allium genus. 

 

The database integrates multi-omics data such as genomes, transcriptomes of multiple Allium species, and provides query, analysis, and download tools. Researchers said the database will help elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying important agronomic traits in Allium, and support genetic breeding efforts for Allium crops. 

 

This research is expected to advance the discovery of functional genes and molecular design breeding in Allium crops.
