Recently, Huazhong Agricultural University and Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences successfully completed the genome sequencing of Hami melon (Cucumis melo L. var. inodorus) using the latest technologies. This is the world's first telomere-to-telomere (T2T) genome of Hami melon.

The research selected the Xinjiang local variety Kuizilikjiz as the material. By combining three sequencing technologies, they obtained a high-quality, highly continuous Hami melon genome for the first time. This genome contains 32,693 genes, providing valuable data for decoding the genetic basis of Hami melon.

At the same time, researchers used this genome as a reference to conduct Meta-QTL analysis. By comparing it with the published 1,294 QTLs, they identified 20 stable Meta-QTLs, greatly narrowing the genetic intervals of related traits and clarifying potential candidate genes. The findings provides a scientific basis for utilizing molecular technologies to improve Hami melon quality and enhance resistance.
