Domestication and Improvement of Apple Quality Selection Based on the Metabolic Perspective

Recently, a research paper entitled “A metabolic perspective of selection for fruit quality related to apple domestication and improvement”published, which revealed the fruit quality selection related to apple domestication and improvement based on the metabolic perspective.
Apple is one of the most important economic fruit crops in the world, belonging to the genus of Malus in the family of Rosaceae. Apples are favored by growers and consumers due to their high nutritional value and strong ecological adaptability.
In this study, a total of 292 wild and cultivated apple materials were collected, and the genomic differences of different apple families were compared. The research results provide a metabolic perspective on fruit quality selection related to apple domestication and improvement, and are of great value in elucidating the control mechanisms of apple quality traits.
