The Key Role of RING-H2 Type E3 Ligase Gene LdXERICO in the Regulation of Lily Dormancy

After expert review by the editorial board of Horticulture Research, a research paper entitled 'The RING-H2 gene LdXERICO plays a negative role in dormancy release regulated by low temperature in Lilium davidii var. unicolor' from Shenyang Agricultural University was selected as the cover article of Horticulture Research in April 2023. This study identified the key gene LdXERICO that regulates lily dormancy and preliminarily revealed the gene regulation mode with LdXERICO as the hub in low-temperature dormancy release.

Lily (Lilium davidii ), as a type of bulbous flower with excellent ornamental value, occupies an important position in the global flower market due to its wide application forms and high economic value. Clarifying the dormancy mechanism of lily bulbs is an important prerequisite for achieving artificial regulation of lily dormancy, thereby improving the quality of bulbs, ensuring lily annual production, and high-level cultivation.

This study provides a reference for in-depth analysis of the molecular mechanism of lily bulb dormancy, and is of great significance for achieving precise regulation of lily bulb dormancy and annual production of bulbs and cut flowers.
