Sweet cherry fruits are widely loved by consumers due to their bright color, sweet flesh, and rich nutrition. In recent years, sweet cherry industry in China has developed rapidly and has become the world's first producer. However, due to quality factors such as color, the production and export of sweet cherries are greatly limited. Therefore, the improvement of fruit quality has become the main problem faced by sweet cherry industry in China.
Recently, Plant Physiology published a research paper entitled "Two B-box proteins, PavBBX6/9, positively regulated light induced anthocyanin accumulation in sweet cherry", which was completed by the team from China Agricultural University, revealing the molecular mechanism of PavBBX6/9 mediated light and ABA signaling to co-regulate anthocyanin synthesis.
This study further enrich the understanding of the molecular mechanism of light and ABA co regulating anthocyanin synthesis in sweet cherry fruit, and can also provide genetic resources for cultivating new sweet cherry varieties with excellent quality.
