miR399 not only plays an important role in plant phosphorus signal transduction pathway, but also is closely related to grape (Vitis vinifera) ripening. However, the composition, molecular characteristics and target genes of grape miR399 family members are still unclear.

Recently, Horticultural Plant Journal published online a research paper entitled "Identification, characterization, and verification of miR399 target gene in grape" by the team from Henan University of Science and Technology. This study carried out the characteristic analysis of grape miR399 family and verified its cutting effect on target genes.

This study completed the identification and characteristic analysis of grape miR399 family, the validation of miR399b's shearing effect on target gene and the analysis of miR399b promoter activity, which laid a foundation for the study of the mechanism of miR399b regulating grape fruit ripening.
