Strawberry has special aroma and rich nutritional value, which is deeply loved by consumers. Cultivating strawberry varieties with high-yield, high-quality and disease resistance has always been an important goal of breeders, and genome analysis is the basis of strawberry breeding.

Cultivated strawberry (Fragaria×ananassa), a perennial herb belonging to the family Rosaceae, is a complex octoploid with high heterozygosity at most loci. However, there is no research on the haplotype of the octoploid strawberry genome. Recently, the cultivated octoploid strawberry variety 'Yanli', developed by the Strawberry Research Team of Shenyang Agricultural University, was used as the test material, and the high-quality genome of 'Yanli' strawberry was assembled with the help of single molecule real-time sequencing (SMRT), high-throughput chromosome conformation capture technology (Hi-C), etc., which will provide the foundation for investigating gene function and evolution of the genome of cultivated octoploid strawberry. The study also revealed the structural diversity and expression complexity of genes related to strawberry anthocyanin biosynthesis.
